Red Wine Suggestions: Frankovka

Frankovka (also known as Lemberger or Blaufränkisch)
In exceptional vintages, Blaufränkisch ranks among the finest wines produced in the Czech Republic, celebrated for its signature smooth and velvety mouthfeel. These wines display a deep ruby hue. When young, they typically feature a vibrant acidity and firm tannins, while with age, they develop a rich, spicy complexity, often revealing notes of blackberry and cinnamon. The wine’s character depends on grape ripeness—less mature versions pair well with everyday meals, while aged examples from strong vintages are ideal companions for roasted game, poultry, or blue cheeses.

As a great example is of smooth an velvety Frankovka is Frankovka Horak 2020 VOC – Bohemia Wine
